'Plants vs. Zombies 2' is a delightful tower defense game where players use a variety of plant-based soldiers to fend off waves of the undead. The core idea is simple: plant your leafy defenders on your lawn to stop zombies from reaching your house. The currency for planting is sun, which you gather or grow. It's a fun and strategic game that has kept many players entertained. The Dark Ages, Night 1 in 'Plants vs. Zombies 2' kicks off the adventure in a suitably gloomy medieval setting. Right from the start, players notice a big change: the sun isn't falling from the sky. This means those handy Sunflowers we rely on are useless here. Instead, we get introduced to the Sun-shroom, a mushroom that starts small but grows into a bigger sun producer, teaching us to be patient with our resources. To deal with the initial zombie onslaught without using sun, we also get the Puff-shroom. This little guy is free and short-ranged, perfect for a quick, disposable defense. The lawn itself is a bit tricky, too. Gravestones pop up, blocking our shots. Some of these can even be smashed for a little sun bonus, which is helpful. The zombies here are mostly the regular medieval types – Peasant Zombies, and their tougher Conehead and Buckethead cousins. They’re not too overwhelming for this first night, giving us a chance to get used to the new plants and the gravestone mechanic. The best strategy is to plant lots of Sun-shrooms early on while using Puff-shrooms to keep the zombies at bay. Once we have enough sun, we can bring out stronger attackers to clear the waves.
