Chapter 4, "Thy Bard, with a Vengeance," thrusts the player, now the Fatemaker, into a critical mission following the capture of Queen Butt Stallion. The objective is clear: retrieve the Sword of Souls from the Dragon Lord's pyramid. To achieve this, a ship is needed, and the journey begins at Brighthoof's docks. After being knighted "Squire of the Realm," the Fatemaker learns that a bard's blessing is crucial to protect the ship from a deadly sea curse. With Brighthoof's resident bard having absconded with a skeleton, the Fatemaker is pointed towards Torgue, a unique half-bard, half-barbarian. The search for Torgue leads to the enchanting, yet perilous, Weepwild Dankness. A humorous detour involving a giant cheese puff triggers the "Cheesy Pick-Up" side quest, a brief dungeon crawl for a key. Upon finally meeting Torgue, who prefers his lute as a blunt instrument, he agrees to help in exchange for assistance in cleansing the forest of corruption thorns, planted by the Dragon Lord. These thorns drain the forest's energy and spawn skeletal foes. Guided by Torgue, the Fatemaker battles through "thorn guards," Soldiers of Corruption, and Archmages of Corruption, clearing out enemies before destroying each thorn. The journey culminates at the Heart of the Forest, where the formidable Banshee awaits as the chapter's boss. Defeating the Banshee frees the trapped Fairy Punchfather, completing the main quest. This victory grants the Fatemaker a coveted third weapon slot, significantly boosting combat prowess. The chapter concludes with the Fatemaker returning to Brighthoof, ship blessed and Torgue in tow, ready for the next leg of their epic adventure.
